Wild Nest, No Prison is my first full-length book published by Deerbook Editions. I have had two chapbooks published before this book: Evidence of Light published by MoonPie Press and Love Dogs published by Strikeback Studios. I have had poems published in The Cafe Review, Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine, Maine Sunday Telegram’s “Deep Water” Series, LEON Literary Review, Maine Arts Journal––Union of Maine Visual Artists Quarterly, deLuge Journal, and Maine Public Radio’s “Poems from Here” with help from the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance.
I have been teaching high school English for over thirty years, and I am still thrilled to watch high school students get excited about writing and discover their creative selves. I received my first master's degree from Harvard University School of Education and my second, my MFA in poetry, from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
I am a proud Irish citizen, and I live in Portland, Maine with my 10-pound but ferocious dog Sweetpea. I am forever grateful for the friends and writers around me who remind me how rich I feel to be part of a community of people who care about language, writing, human rights, and the arts.
